Are We Connected To Ourselves Or Are We Connected To a Concept?

In today's fast-paced world, it is easy to find ourselves identifying more with ideas and labels than with our true feelings and experiences. For many decades we have lived in a society that keeps establishing concepts that persuade us of the need outside ourselves. Our identities are often based on what’s out there for us before we look at how we function internally.

Now don’t get me wrong I’m all for being the best version of yourself and having the best life you can have, but not at the cost of getting so far away from ourselves that the only way we can live is in a conceptual existence.

This tendency to look outward for validation can lead us to lose touch with our own intuition and inner wisdom. Instead of tuning into our authentic selves, we may unconsciously adopt societal expectations, trends, or the opinions of others as measures of our worth and direction in life. By doing so, we risk neglecting the deeper connection to who we truly are beneath the surface. The deeper connection takes us to where we can observe our qualities and then direct these from a very powerful position.

I know that we are all alive so we can succeed in life. The concept of life having to be a struggle has been perpetuated through the ages by those who want to have autonomy over everything and everyone. Our history is full of examples of individuals (usually male) who believe in the total superiority of themselves over others, they strut their stuff through conflict and uprising. They have their moment of glory until eventually they get deposed by some other egoic despot who always thinks they can do it better. And it never works. They lead their countries into distress, despair and economic ruin, history has proved this time and time again and these people keep making a mess of it all. I’m surprised that we have put up with it for so long.

So why do we put up with this? We have the power to break free from these outdated narratives. Do we accept too much the concepts that are out in front of us about how life should be run? Do we leave the running of everything in the hands of those who are simply stabbing in the dark and hope something good comes of what they represent?

By acting altruistically, don't we make better choices?  I have seen very few leaders in my life who one could call truly noble and humane and who absolutely have no conflict within them. We should look to those who create systems that enable a good life for everyone. We should look inwards to ourselves and find the version of ourself that can create daily personal systems that allow us to prosper in all ways.

It's time to question the structures and beliefs we've inherited, and actively seek ways to reclaim our agency. We begin by listening to our inner voice, challenging old narratives, and cultivating communities that value authenticity over conformity. Real change starts when individuals take responsibility for their own growth and encourage others to do the same, creating a ripple effect that transforms society from within. I find it perplexing at times when people feel challenged by new thought and new ways. So many get locked into the room of concepts denying themselves of the advantages of awareness.  That room becomes their security establishing a place where they no longer truly think for themselves but rather are guided by concepts they have been taught to believe is true. I feel this leads to valuing your fears, your doubts, your resistance over your power and the qualities that you have. One becomes suspicious of life and of others and no longer feels one can trust. External imposed concepts invariably weaken our relationship with what is natural and that disconnects us from clarity. We have been conforming for too long what is expected of us rather than what we know of ourselves.

To move beyond this cycle, we must make a conscious effort to reconnect with our authentic nature.

It is essential to remember that genuine connection begins with self-awareness and a willingness to embrace our unique perspectives. When we pause to reflect and engage with our inner lives, we foster resilience and creativity that can't be replicated by simply adhering to external ideals. This process empowers us to make choices that align with our deepest values, rather than living according to someone else's script.

I wonder how that would change the world we live in ? Politicians that get out into the street and talk to people and really have the finger on the pulse of things  and really do something .No more funding for weapons of mass destruction, everyone gets free education and medical, clean streets, no homeless, happy people, happy society, social policies that are actually good for everyone and put into practice as opposed to promises. Always feeling safe and sound and prosperous! A world that we respect and treat with reverence, a relationship with each other that is forged through respect and positive alliances.

Is this possible? I really like to belief that we do have faith in ourselves and our abilities to bring back the common sense that seems to so elude us these days.

Have a happy June!

Blessings

IN OTHER NEWS

As you can see on the home page I’m lining up a few events for the later part of the year.

I’m so looking forward to working with Antonio Sangio in Peru at the end of the year. Amazing to have a New Years Eve in Cuzco! I was last there in 2020, just before Covid closed the world. Alba Weinman and I hosted an event at that location.  I was in an altered state the whole time. That placed really holds the magic of activation and miracles.

Whether you’re in New Zealand or offshore and are interested in workshops, community discussions, or creative sessions, there will be something for everyone to engage with and enjoy. Your participation and enthusiasm make all the difference, so I hope to see many familiar and new faces as we come together to learn, grow, and celebrate our shared journey.
